One of the highlights of the year has come and gone. No classes. Good food. Loud, fun, and exciting all around. Pride Day was considered a success by many faculty and students once again. It’s a day to not just wander aimlessly around school but to enjoy what Lenape has to offer. A sophomore, Jackie exclaims, “It surpassed all my expectations!”

A favorite during the Open Campus portion was the Hypnotist Show. It was an hour filled with laughter and bewilderment throughout. Watching kids fall on the stage, attempting to breast feed, and driving imaginary cars proved to be a unique sight. Many people were genuinely surprised. One of the participants, Ashley Yoakam, states, “I remember some of it, but it was kind of a blur. I knew I was on stage and he was hypnotizing me, but I was too relaxed to object to anything he said.” The hour and a half flew by quickly and the show was hilarious. Also, there were many more options available. The favorite life-size twister turned into a fierce competition and the sticky wall once again placed students in bright, big suits.  However, the day was just getting better.

The pep rally was not only exciting because it was the last one for many seniors like me, but also everyone in the south gym could feel the excitement. Undoubtedly, the highlight of the show was the fundraiser. It was a great sight to see students, teachers, and the whole community to come together to support the Eberling family in Ebo’s fight against cancer. He is an inspirational figure to all, and it was a proud moment to see Lenape raise over $5000. Also seeing Mrs. Stansbury and Mr. Archible shave their heads made it worthwhile as well. Thanks to all the students and teachers who participated in this event and made it a success!

During the pep rally, the energy never wavered. The loudness of the gym could not be questioned. The microphone was barely audible under such conditions. Pride Day has become a favorite and will forever be one of the memorable Lenape traditions. Overall, the Lenape student body appreciates Pride Day, not only because students don’t have to go to class the day before a holiday break, but also, as Kimi Ampolu words it, “it’s one time a year that everyone at Lenape comes together and really shows how glad we all are to be going to such a great school!”
