2019 Mr. Lenape Pageant

Last Wednesday, Lenape held its annual Mr. Lenape pageant. A packed audience watched the creative skits put on by all the contestants throughout the night.

The contest started with an introduction of each contestant and their escort. They each walked through the audience and to the stage, dressed according to their month with matching music playing. Some threw things into the audience, such as candy or beaded necklaces.

After the introductions, the skits started. Each contestant planned out a dance performance based off of a certain artist. Some of the artists included Usher, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and more. All of the acts had to include at least one person from each grade. These skits were all incredible and showed off all of the hard work that was put in by the performers for each month.

There was a group skit that was put on after the individual skits. This performance included all 12 contestants.

Next, there was a question and answer round of the competition. Each contestant was asked a question that his escort picked out of a bowl. Some of these questions were: Who is your inspiration? How would you define friendship? What do you want to be when you grow up?, and more.

In between each section of the competition, there were musical performances by Lenape students. After the individual skits, Amber Murray sang a beautiful song. Then, after the group skit, Enrique Gonzalez and Michael Schaming played guitar and sang.

After the question and answer round, there was an intermission where the audience used their tickets to vote for who they believe should be crowned Mr. Lenape. As the votes were being counted, prizes were raffled off to one person in each grade, including a Junior Dinner Dance ticket and a prom ticket.

Giovanni Orsi, Mr. April, ended up coming in third place. Mr. July, Alex Matthews, was the runner up, and the winner of the 2019 Mr. Lenape pageant was Mr. February, Aneesh Mandala!

All of the contestants put a lot of hard work into their acts, and it really showed. Everybody did an incredible job, making it a very memorable night!
