Smoke Signal Spotlight: Dungeons & Dragons Club

Have you ever imagined yourself as someone else? A hero, a villain, or just a person who walks around singing. The Dungeons and Dragons club allows you to do that and much more. For the people who don’t know what Dungeons and Dragons is, here’s a summary. The game D&D is a tabletop RPG (role playing game) which uses sets of dice to identify what is allowed or isn’t. You need at least three players, and a set of dice. The handbooks can be found online for free or you can buy them at bookstores. The game allows your imagination to come to life and you can be anything you want to be. There is a DM (dungeon master) who creates a campaign that you and other people can play. He can create custom weapons, roles and even give you god like powers. Be sure to be nice to him/her! The D&D club is run by Julian Liss, a senior who started the club as a freshman. The club has over 40 members and is enjoyable for everyone.  For instance, one of the campaigns, the one I currently am in, is about an adventurer’s guild. The group does various missions depending on their guild level and how powerful they really are. As it’s my first time, I’m ashamed to say that I already died. This club can teach you to think more logically, and to analyze the situation before jumping in. These are life lessons that you might need later, and what’s a better way to learn them than a game. The games were previously held in the media center but because of the massive amount of people joining, there are three rooms currently being used in ND hall. If you wish to join the club come next Tuesday in ND 19.
