5 Important Facts About the COVID Vaccine

The vaccine is here! Before we get too hasty, some things would be useful to know before taking it.

1. There will be two doses of the vaccine based on the specific type of vaccine you get. The second shot will take place three to four weeks after the initial shot. Two shots are essential because they provide more protection against COVID-19.

2. There may be side effects after the vaccine, which is completely normal. You may feel like you have the flu or weaker; however, this should only last for a few days.

3. Even if you have had COVID-19 already, it is still encouraged to get vaccinated. The natural immunity you gained from recovering from COVID-19 may not last indefinitely. Therefore, the vaccine is strongly recommended as a precaution.

4. The COVID-19 vaccine does not alter DNA. This is because DNA is located in the cell’s nucleus, and the mRNA from a COVID-19 vaccine does not enter the nucleus. Therefore, it will not be able to interact with or alter DNA.

5. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has approved two different vaccines: the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, these are the only two that are authorized for use in the United States.
