Study Spot Showdown

Study Spot Showdown

A huge part of high school entails studying for endless exams and quizzes. I surveyed 46 Lenape students about where they enjoy studying the most in hopes of inspiring other students about other study spots. Let the showdown commence!

In other classes, the day of the test was mentioned by one student. I really hope that this is not being done often!

Lenape High School provides numerous study areas during Lunch & Learn, where students can study. The Wellness Center offers a quiet setting and a study desk with privacy walls. It is a good place to focus, but the spots are limited as there are only 3 desks. The Media Center can be louder, but they have many desks and tables for students to study at. They also have many computers for printing out or casual usage purposes.

Some people like studying at their friend’s house to collaborate on their studies. The only problem that may come with studying at a friend’s home is distraction from your peers.

A great place to study is Panera Bread. Its location is in Centerton Square, where students can run errands with ease. Panera Bread has a splendid variety of food and snacks for students to eat. Just watch for the overconsumption of the charged lemonade, as people have reported deaths. Otherwise, people have said that this is a comfy and quiet place for people to study.

Unsurprisingly, Starbucks is on this list. Starbucks is a very popular place for people to study, complete work, and even catch up with their friends. People grab their favorite Starbucks drink and sit down at their many seating areas. Some say that seeing other work makes them more likely to work at Starbucks. However, the sound of machines and other customers can be really loud and distracting, especially if one does not have noise-cancelling headphones.

Similar to Starbucks is Dunkin’, which students say has the most comfortable seating and less noise from customers and staff. Dunkin’ has many chairs, sofas, and outlets to spare.

The upstairs of Wegmans has countless chairs and tables for people to eat, socialize, and study. Just take your meals upstairs and sit comfortably at their quiet seating arrangements. This study spot seems to be a favorite with both teachers and students. Some say that convenience and vibes are totally worth studying at Wegmans.

Barnes & Nobles also has ample space to study. The bookish vibes set people in a focused mindset and seem to be a favorite among most students. Many Barnes & Noble stores have Starbucks at the center, allowing for easy access to favorite drinks and snacks. They have outlets and plenty of tables for one to focus on. The only downside is Wifi issues, as sometimes it is hard for some students to complete their work due to internet issues. After one is done with their study session, they can step down and start shopping!

A close second goes to the Mount Laurel Library, where 9 students agree that this is the best place to study. Students preferred this spot because of the scenic view and large windows. They have plenty of trees and a spectacular view of the outdoors to accompany one as they focus. Some say the library is a quiet place to study and removes distractions, like those one may have at home. It has many locations within the library to study, like in the middle tables, behind the stacks, in the teen section, the quiet study, and study rooms that can be booked. They also have resources like free computers and textbooks that are used by many students.

The most popular response that was given was studying at home. The students responded that being at home is one of the most comfortable spots. All the material needed is within reach, and it can be quiet. Some students aren’t able to drive yet, so being able to study at home is the only place they can go at the moment. The limited distraction allows for complete focus. Some homes consist of spacious areas, so students who require a lot of space when studying usually prefer staying home. Many students like studying at home because they can ask their parents for help at any time.
