AP Exams
Recently, Lenape went through a wave of AP Exams that lasted two weeks, testing students on material from all sorts of subjects. I was curious about people’s thoughts on exams like AP World History, and AP Bio, so I went around asking the freshman, seniors, and sophomores who took those tests, what they thought about their experience.
AP Bio
Sophomore: Roma Soni
How difficult was the exam? Was it easier or harder than what you thought it would be?
The exam was definitely not the easiest one I’ve taken yet. I got a little caught off guard with all the graph questions because I wasn’t expecting that many. I didn’t think it was too bad, and I’m hoping I did well.
What was the easiest part of the test?
I know a lot of people will come at me for this, but I think the FRQ was easier than the MCQ.
How long, and how did you study?
I started studying little by little 2 months before the exam. I didn’t start taking practice tests until 1 to 2 weeks before it.
Any advice for future AP Bio students?
Biology is all about memorizing and being able to apply that knowledge. You won’t be able to apply without understandng, so don’t be afraid to ask questions.
AP World
Freshman: Ben Niv
What’d you think about your first ever AP Exam? Was it difficult or easier than expected?
I think the exam was easier than expected, but that was because of how we were prepared.
How did you prepare?
I prepared by studying a month ahead, taking practice MCQs and FRQs while also looking over content.
Do you feel more confident about taking AP tests now?
I feel a little more confident with taking AP tests, but not every test is the same, so it should be taken lightly.
Senior: Jack Watkins
How difficult was the AP World exam compared to the other exams you’ve taken?
AP World was probably the easiest AP I’ve taken. It’s even easier than APUSH and that was already fairly easy.
What was the hardest AP exam you’ve ever taken and the easiest?
AP Calc BC was the hardest. It has made me fearful that I won’t get a 4 or a 5. The easiest was AP World. I mostly used Heimler 1 minute reviews and I understood everything.
What is some advice you could give to future freshmen about AP tests?
I’d say to make sure you start studying at least a month before for hard tests and take good notes throughout the year so you can easily refer to the month before the test.
Did the fact that you’re a senior limit your motivation to study?
It did for tests like AP World but it didn’t waiver my motivation for Calc BC because I need a 4 or a 5 to skip straight to multi variable calculus and I really want to skip to that. For AP World, I mostly used my background knowledge from over the year and APUSH.
